Membership

Lots of amazing things happened for POW last year. After a long period of incremental decline POW memebership over doubled from a low of 23 at the end of 2004 to 67 at last years end. This remarkable feat was accomplished mainly through the efforts of the executive in general and Tom Rutledge and the GLUE Club specifically. During a time when the dive industry has been seeing a noted downturn, their efforts have truly enabled POW to continue to thrive and build through a time when it would have been far easier to just give up and hope for the best.

Projects

A number of project were initiated last year by the Dan MacKay and the TEST team. It was decided early in the year that POW get back to it's roots and sponsor active survey work. The TEST team requested and recieved a $500.00 sponsorship grant. This grant was made to offset the cost of material purchase, such as slates, measuring tapes, waterproof paper and such. These stores will be inventoried and kept for POW use once the Picton Wreck Survey is done this year so that POW will have a ready resource of survey materials at its disposal for the general membership as required.

The New POW Brochure

Yup! It is official. POW has a brand spanking new brochure. Thanks to Dan MacKay and Northern Tech Diver Multi Media who donated time and design work. Dan based the new design loosely on the old brochure to create a stunning new pamplet in full color. It was unvieled at the Shipwreck Conference and was a huge success. The only cost to POW was $1700.00 plus tax for the final printing of 5000 brochures. Congratulations Dan for such a stellar piece of work. The brochure is freely available from POW.
